Once considered a rap-metal band, Linkin Park and their new album are a departure from the mash-up of genres we're used to. Their new producer, music icon Rick Rubin, may have a wealth of history with hip-hop artists, but here, hes stripped away the extra bells and whistles to show the true depth and potential in this band as a serious rock group. Although less rough around the edges, the songs are still powerful, and laced with melodies that remind me of their past work.
